What is the structure made of - metal or wood?
The bearing structure can be both steel and wooden. We give a choice to our customers.
What does the choice of material for the structure depend on?
Price
There is no difference in the prices of both types of structure.
The wooden structure has its own specific details and additional treatments, which increase its total price:
- the wood for making bearing constructions is subject to careful selection in terms of structure and moisture;
- additional steel straps are required for the locations of assembly;
- it is necessary to ensure impregnation with high quality solutions providing effective protection consistent with the requirement not to cause harm to the health of the inhabitants. The elements of the steel structure are connected by welds. The need for additional treatment is limited to priming.
Visual impact
The prevailing part of the structure usually remains hidden in the walls. Columns are visible in the verandas. We often practice a combination of two materials, i.e., no matter what the structure is, you have a choice of material for its visible part.
Bearing capacity
The bearing structure is calculated according to the applicable standards for design of the building constructions and the effects on them. Separate calculations are made for each architectural design in order to determine the density of the bearing elements and the type of connections.
What protection of the bearing elements do we provide?
For wood:
- Preparations against moulding
Fungus growth on recently felled logs leads to poor quality and a lower market price of the material, respectively. The preparation for protection is based on water and biodegradable ingredients and adds no smell.
- Conservation protection
Effective long-term protection against fungi and insects. Implementation of water-soluble preservatives of a new generation appropriate for internal and external applications (based on biodegradable ingredients traditionally used for protection of crops for human consumption).
* We use the products of Arch Timber Protection for preservation of the wood.
For steel:
- Priming - application of an anti-corrosion coating.
